A habwa (Arabic: حَبْوَة) is a traditional Yemeni sitting posture and a supporting strap or belt used to maintain it.
The Posture
How it works:You sit on the ground with your knees bent and pulled up toward your chest.
The belt/strap: A specialized piece of handwoven fabric or strap—also called a habwa—is wrapped tightly around your lower back and shins/knees to lock the lower body in place.
Function: It uses body leverage and weight distribution to support the spine, preventing lower back strain, leg fatigue, and pins and needles during prolonged floor sitting
